New Esri Initiative Provides Free Geospatial Software for Nonprofits
–Nonprofits are increasingly taking a geographic approach to implementing their plans and ensuring the success of their goals. One nonprofit organization recently used geospatial technology to target likely donors and identify areas in need while addressing the recent baby formula shortage. To support and advance the missions of similar small nonprofits that may think geographic information systems (GIS) software is out of reach, Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, has launched the Esri Small Nonprofit Organization Grant Initiative. The grant initiative will provide 150 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with GIS training and software access.
Esri Collaborates with RB Rail AS to Build Sustainable Rail Infrastructure in the EU
The 870 kilometres of Rail Baltica are divided into several sections across each of the three Baltic countries: Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. An ongoing electric rail infrastructure project in the region, Rail Baltica’s purpose is to provide sustainable passenger and freight service between participating countries and improve rail connections between central and northern Europe. To help engineers plan, construct, and manage maintenance tasks to make improvements, RB Rail AS and Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, have signed an enterprise agreement to integrate geographic information system (GIS) software across all project units.
MariaDB Joins Open Geospatial Consortium
MariaDB Corporation has joined the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) following its acquisition of geospatial solutions provider CubeWerx.
MariaDB is raising the CubeWerx membership to the technical committee member level. Through the OGC, MariaDB will work with the geospatial community to advance open geospatial standards to make information Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR).
