Esri Puts Audubon’s Migratory Bird Initiative on the Map

Esri is the global leader in Geospatial software and a key technology partner in the Migratory Bird Initiative and Bird Migration Explorer. So why is mapping technology a key to this work? First, because conservation is inherently spatial—decisions about how to manage lands and natural resources are related to locations. GIS allows us to look for patterns and gain new insights at local, regional and global scales. Second, information about birds is tracked in geospatial databases. These data show us where and when birds are found at locations across the hemisphere, which in turn allow us to visualize and analyze bird migration. Insights such as these inform and strengthen conservation efforts.

Geospatial Software in Agriculture Market Size 2022 In-Depth Players Analysis, Industry Trends, Share Estimation, Supply Demand Scenario, Regional Forecast till 2030

The global Geospatial software in agriculture market size was US$ 9.8 billion in 2021. The global GIS software in the agriculture market is forecast to grow to US$ 13.9 billion by 2030 by registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.9% during the forecast period from 2022 to 2030.

The expansion of the worldwide GIS software market is attributed to the rising need for GIS in metropolitan areas, urban agricultural planning, and more significant GIS software usage. Apart from that, the growing trend of urban farming is expected to bring lucrative growth opportunities for GIS software in the agriculture market.

New Esri Initiative Provides Free Geospatial Software for Nonprofits

–Nonprofits are increasingly taking a geographic approach to implementing their plans and ensuring the success of their goals. One nonprofit organization recently used geospatial technology to target likely donors and identify areas in need while addressing the recent baby formula shortage. To support and advance the missions of similar small nonprofits that may think geographic information systems (GIS) software is out of reach, Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, has launched the Esri Small Nonprofit Organization Grant Initiative. The grant initiative will provide 150 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with GIS training and software access.

Esri Collaborates with RB Rail AS to Build Sustainable Rail Infrastructure in the EU

The 870 kilometres of Rail Baltica are divided into several sections across each of the three Baltic countries: Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. An ongoing electric rail infrastructure project in the region, Rail Baltica’s purpose is to provide sustainable passenger and freight service between participating countries and improve rail connections between central and northern Europe. To help engineers plan, construct, and manage maintenance tasks to make improvements, RB Rail AS and Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, have signed an enterprise agreement to integrate geographic information system (GIS) software across all project units.

MariaDB Joins Open Geospatial Consortium

MariaDB Corporation has joined the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) following its acquisition of geospatial solutions provider CubeWerx.

MariaDB is raising the CubeWerx membership to the technical committee member level. Through the OGC, MariaDB will work with the geospatial community to advance open geospatial standards to make information Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR).

“We are thrilled to welcome MariaDB to the OGC,” said Nadine Alameh, CEO, of OGC.

“MariaDB’s acquisition of CubeWerx demonstrates that the value of geospatial is finally being recognized as central to pretty much all applications and all decisions. It is great to see that what we have been working on as a geospatial community with leaders from CubeWerx and others is at the point of making an impact at a scale never seen before.”
