ESRI Introduces ArcGIS IPS
ArcGIS IPS is an indoor positioning system that allows you to locate yourself and others inside a building in real-time. Similar to GPS, it puts a blue dot on indoor maps and uses location services to help you navigate to any point of interest or destination. Real-time indoor navigation, location sharing, and location tracking empower customers, visitors, and contractors. Indoor data collection provides a smooth workflow for mobile workers and analytics can help your organization increase efficiency and improve customer service.
Trimble Introduces Next Generation High-Accuracy Mapping Solution For GIS Field Applications
Trimble announced today a new high-performance data collector for its Mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) portfolio—the Trimble TDC650 handheld. Built for GIS data collection, inspection and asset management activities, the TDC650 provides users with a rugged solution with scalable high-accuracy Global Navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning for professional field workflows.
The TDC650 is fully integrated with today’s demanding GIS data environment, powered by the Trimble Software Development Kit (SDK) that enables precision GNSS positioning for industry-leading apps such as Esri ArcGIS Field Maps and Trimble TerraFlex software. The TDC650 is also a scalable solution that allows customers to choose their desired accuracy down to the centimetre level to meet needs and budget requirements.
Siemens and Esri partner to bring grid planning and operation to a new level
Siemens Smart Infrastructure has partnered with Esri, the global leader in geographic information systems (GIS) and location intelligence, to expand its ecosystem of partners for its grid software business. The partnership enhances capabilities for the planning, operations and maintenance of power networks at grid operators by combining Esri’s powerful mapping and spatial analytics software and Siemens’ electrical topology expertise. In doing so, the companies aim to upgrade the data flow between applications for increased planning accuracy and for better operations of the distribution grid. The partnership´s objective is to improve the admission of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) to the grid so that net zero can be achieved faster.
Prague wins an “Oscar” for GIS use in urban planning
Prague’s Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) has just won one of the world’s most prestigious awards in the field of data and geography, as the city website informed yesterday. The award, given by Esri – a leading geographic information system (GIS) software provider – recognizes the capital’s long-term use of data for urban planning and mitigating the effects of climate change.
In particular, Prague was praised for effectively transforming information into green and economic solutions that improve the life quality of its citizens and guests.

From July 6-8, experts, officials, enterprises, and university representatives from nearly 130 countries came together at GTC 2022 to learn the latest SuperMap GIS technologies, discuss innovative applications of GIS, and explore the future trends of the GIS industry.
BlackSky and Esri unveil tasking through ArcGIS Online
BlackSky Technology unveiled satellite tasking on July 12 through Esri’s ArcGIS Online geographic mapping platform at the Esri User Conference in San Diego.
After working closely together, BlackSky and Esri released BlackSky Tasking, a cloud-based application that allows Esri and BlackSky customers to task a satellite and receive the imagery in ArcGIS Online.
“It is the first time that users have the ability to do dynamic monitoring and satellite tasking through ArcGIS Online leveraging BlackSky’s constellation and platform,” BlackSky Chief Commercial Officer Amy Minnick told SpaceNews. “Through that interface and through BlackSky’s capabilities, you can task a satellite to monitor locations from the time the sun comes up to the time the sun goes down, virtually hourly, in many locations around the world, and then get that data back down to the user within hours.”
